Microglial Cells
Microglial cells are the primary immune cells of the central nervous system. They are found throughout the brain, spinal cord, and retina, and serve as the first line of defense against any foreign invader, such as a virus or bacteria. Microglia are also important for the regulation of inflammation, synaptic pruning, and homeostasis of the brain environment. Moreover, they play a key role in the development of the nervous system and the repair of damaged brain tissue. Microglial cells are essential for maintaining healthy brain function and are essential for a person’s cognitive health.
