Leukotrienes

Leukotrienes are lipid mediators that are formed by the breakdown of arachidonic acid. These molecules have important functions in the body, including regulating inflammation, immune responses, and airway resistance. Leukotrienes are also involved in the pathogenesis of numerous allergic and inflammatory diseases, such as asthma, arthritis, and psoriasis. As a result, leukotrienes have become important therapeutic targets for these conditions. Drugs that act on leukotrienes have been developed and are used to reduce the symptoms of these diseases.
