Cytokines

Cytokines are proteins or glycoproteins found on the surface of cells, which are important in cell-to-cell communication. They are involved in transferring signals between cells to promote essential activities such as the immune system's ability to fight off foreign substances, tissue regeneration, and cell division. Cytokines play a critical role in inflammation and the development of other diseases. They are also used in medical treatments, such as in cancer therapy, to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. Additionally, cytokines are used in laboratory research to study diseases and to develop treatments.
