Allergology
Allergology is a medical specialty that is focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of allergies, asthma, and other allergic diseases. Allergists are specially trained to help manage and treat allergies, asthma, and other allergic diseases, as well as to identify and avoid potential triggers that could cause allergic reactions. Allergology includes the administration of allergy tests, such as skin testing and blood tests, to determine the specific allergen that is causing the reaction. Treatments may involve pharmacotherapy, immunotherapy, and diet and environmental changes, such as avoiding or reducing exposure to allergy triggers. Allergology is a critical subspecialty in the medical field, as allergies are a huge public health issue, affecting around 30% of adults and 40% of children.
