Serology
Serology is a branch of medical science related to the study of bodily fluids such as blood and saliva with the aim of diagnosing, monitoring and treating diseases. Through serology tests, specific antibodies and antigens can be identified in a sample of fluid, allowing clinicians to detect and identify infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, cancers, and other ailments. Serology testing is often used to screen for blood-borne pathogens, to identify the presence of bacteria or viruses in a sample, and to help diagnose and monitor immunity against specific diseases. Additionally, in cases of organ transplantation and transfusions, serology is essential to ensure compatibility between donor and recipient tissues. Serology testing is a critical tool in the medical diagnostics industry, providing clinicians and patients with a powerful tool for managing, treating, and preventing a wide range of diseases.
