Paravertebral Block

A paravertebral block is a type of nerve block, which is an injection of local anesthetic, a steroid, and/or other medications around a cluster of nerves leading to the area of the body being treated. It is used to provide targeted relief of acute pain, mainly in the chest or back areas like the lower spine, ribs, and chest wall. Paravertebral blocks can provide long-lasting relief, making it a valuable tool in the treatment of cancer pain, amongst other indications. It has also been found to be effective in reducing the need for opioids, which can be an important step in helping to reduce the risks of opioid addiction. The procedure is a safe, effective way of treating pain, and is minimally invasive with minimal risk of complications.
