Klebsiella Pneumoniae
Klebsiella Pneumoniae is a bacterium commonly found in the environment and the human body. It is a major cause of life-threatening illnesses such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and bloodstream infections. It is able to cause severe and even fatal disease in people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, infants, and those with pre-existing medical conditions. The bacteria is also associated with nosocomial infections, which can spread in hospitals and other healthcare settings. Fortunately, due to the availability of effective antibiotics, Klebsiella pneumoniae infections can be treated.
