Histoplasmosis

Histoplasmosis is an infection caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. It is mainly found in the Eastern and Central United States and is typically spread through airborne particles. The most common symptoms of histoplasmosis are fever, coughing, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. It can range from being mild to severe and in some cases can be life-threatening. Treatment is mainly antifungal medications and can vary depending on the severity of the infection. Histoplasmosis is an important infection to be aware of, as it can be a serious health risk if left untreated.
