Group a Streptococcal Infection
Group A Streptococcal infection, also known as Streptococcal Pyogenes or Strep, is a type of bacterial infection that can cause a wide range of illnesses and diseases. This includes illnesses such as strep throat, scarlet fever, rheumatic fever and impetigo. Strep can be spread by contact with someone infected, by contaminated surfaces, and through the air when a person coughs or sneezes. By seeking treatment promptly, the symptoms of Strep can be managed and the risk of complications can be reduced. Prevention of Group A Streptococcal infection can be achieved through good hygiene practices and by avoiding contact with those who are already infected.
