Ectoparasitic Infections
Ectoparasitic infections are caused by parasitic organisms that feed on the blood, skin and other tissues of their host. These parasites can cause a variety of skin conditions, including itching and irritation, as well as more serious illnesses such as malaria and typhus. Treatment of these infections typically involves the use of anti-parasitic drugs, such as ivermectin and mebendazole. Prevention of ectoparasitic infections often involves practicing personal hygiene and avoiding contact with insects and other organisms that are known to carry these parasites. Ectoparasitic infections are a serious public health concern, particularly in developing countries where access to medical care is limited.
