Cryptococcosis
Cryptococcosis is a fungal infection caused by Cryptococcus spp. It is a potentially life-threatening condition that can occur in humans and animals, although birds are the most common hosts. Symptoms of the infection include fever, weight loss, headaches, and lung and central nervous system involvement. Treatment of cryptococcosis typically involves antifungal medications such as amphotericin B and fluconazole, as well as supportive care. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of cryptococcosis are important for reducing mortality and morbidity associated with this disease.
