Clostridium Tetani

Clostridium tetani is a Gram-positive bacterium that causes a serious, potentially fatal neurological disorder known as tetanus. The toxin produced by this bacterium, known as tetanospasmin, binds to specific motor neurons, resulting in muscle spasms, pain, and stiffness. It is commonly found in soil and its spores can enter the body through open wounds, leading to infection. Vaccination is the best way to prevent tetanus, and its toxins can be treated with specific antitoxins. Clostridium tetani is a serious health hazard and its spores can survive in soil and inside the human body for many years, making it difficult to eradicate.
