Avian Malaria
Avian malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites that affects birds, particularly wild birds. It is spread by mosquito bites, and it can cause serious health problems and even death. Avian malaria can have a significant impact on wild bird populations, as it can reduce reproductive success and increase mortality. It can also spread to domestic birds, such as chickens, ducks and turkeys, and lead to economic losses in the poultry and pet industries. In addition, avian malaria can be an important source of human malaria, as Plasmodium parasites can be transmitted from birds to humans. Therefore, understanding and controlling the spread of avian malaria is critical to protect both wild bird populations and human health.
