Antivirals
Antivirals are medications used to prevent, treat, or cure viral infections. They work by suppressing the replication of viral particles, either by preventing them from entering cells or by stopping the virus from replicating within the cell. Antivirals are an essential part of modern medicine and are used to treat a wide range of infections, including influenza, herpes, and HIV. Antivirals are also used in the prevention of infections, such as in people with weakened immune systems, where a mild infection could become life-threatening. Furthermore, antivirals are also used in the treatment of cancer, to target specific viruses in the tumor cells and stop their growth. Antivirals are an integral part of medical treatments, allowing for better control of many different types of diseases and infections.
