Aeromonas Hydrophila
Aeromonas hydrophila is a species of Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria that is found in contaminated fresh and brackish water environments such as ponds, streams, and rivers. This bacteria is of particular importance due to its potential to cause disease in humans and animals. Aeromonas hydrophila is associated with gastroenteritis, wound infections, septicemia, and other illnesses. It is also capable of causing infections in fish, resulting in significant economic losses in the aquaculture industry. Fortunately, Aeromonas hydrophila can be treated with antibiotics, and strategies to reduce its incidence can be employed to protect human and animal health.
