Underground Gas Storage
Underground gas storage is a process of storing natural gas for future use in underground reservoirs within the Earth's surface. Gas can be stored in depleted oil or gas fields, aquifers, or salt caverns. Underground gas storage is beneficial for a number of reasons, including: providing a secure and reliable means of energy storage and supply, reducing the cost of energy storage and distribution, and reducing the environmental impact of energy production and consumption. Underground gas storage has been used successfully in many countries and is an important part of an integrated energy system.
