Carbon Capture

and storage Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a process that captures carbon dioxide (CO2) from large emissions sources such as power plants, and stores it in a safe and permanent underground storage. CCS can greatly reduce CO2 emissions that come from power plants and other facilities that burn fossil fuels, helping to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change. Additionally, CCS can be used to capture emissions from industrial processes and other sources and can also be used to store CO2 for enhanced oil and gas recovery. CCS is an essential technology for achieving ambitious climate goals, and its use is becoming increasingly important in mitigating the effects of climate change.
