Salivation
Salivation is a process that produces saliva, a watery substance filled with enzymes, proteins and electrolytes. Saliva plays an essential role in human health, as it helps to lubricate and protect the mouth, aiding in food digestion and preventing dehydration. It also helps to control bacteria and other microorganisms in the mouth, promoting oral hygiene. Saliva production increases in response to food, thereby stimulating the taste buds and helping with the enjoyment of eating.
