Milk Snake The Louisiana Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum amaura) is a species of non-venomous snake that lives in the southeastern United States. It gets its name from its white and yellow or orange-spotted coloration, which resembles that of a milk jug. This snake plays an important role in the local ecology as a predator of small animals, including lizards, frogs, and rodents. Its presence helps to maintain the balance of its environment and benefits other species, as well as humans. The Louisiana Milk Snake also makes an attractive pet due to its bright coloration and calm nature. Although they don’t require much in terms of specialized care, potential owners should research the species fully before purchasing one.
