Hypospadias
Hypospadias is a congenital disorder in which the urethral opening of a male child is not located at the tip of the penis, but instead is situated anywhere along the length of the penis, from the base to the glans. Through surgery, the urethral opening is repositioned to the tip of the penis. Hypospadias is a significant condition that requires careful diagnosis and treatment, as it can have a long-term impact on urinary, reproductive, and psychosocial health. It is important to recognize early signs of hypospadias in order to provide timely and appropriate treatment, with the goal of improving patient outcomes. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the condition, but typically involve reconstructive surgery to reposition the urethral opening. Surgery is most commonly performed in infancy to minimize the emotional and physical effects of hypospadias. Early treatment is important to restore normal urinary and reproductive functioning, minimize psychological distress and improve self-esteem.
