Chromatin
Chromatin is a complex structure that makes up the genetic material of a cell. It is composed of DNA and proteins and it plays a key role in cell division, DNA replication and transcription. Chromatin helps in controlling which genes are expressed, providing a way for the cell to regulate its own functions. It is also important for gene regulation during development and disease. Chromatin is essential to the function of all cells and its study can provide insights into the functions of the cell and the genetic regulation of human development. The manipulation of chromatin has also been used to develop therapeutic strategies to treat and prevent inherited diseases.
