Stroke
A stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is blocked or reduced, resulting in insufficient oxygen supply to the brain. This can cause the death of brain cells, leading to a wide range of physical, cognitive and emotional impairments. Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and understanding the proactive steps people can take to reduce the risk of stroke is key for improved public health. Lifestyle interventions, such as quitting smoking and exercising regularly, have been found to lower the risk of stroke. Early diagnosis and treatment of stroke in a clinical setting can help to reduce the severity of stroke-related impairments and improve a patient's long-term health outcomes.
