Pulmonary Circulation
Pulmonary circulation is the circulation loop of the cardiovascular system that enables oxygenated blood to be transported from the heart to the lungs and carbon dioxide-depleted blood to be returned from the lungs to the heart. This circulation is an essential part of the oxygenation of cells and tissues both in respiration and in thermoregulation. Pulmonary circulation is also important for the transport of hormones, gases, and other metabolic products throughout the body. Furthermore, it helps to maintain normal blood pressure, as well as other functions related to cardiovascular health, including the regulation of glucose and electrolyte concentrations. Pulmonary circulation plays an instrumental role in keeping the body healthy and functioning properly.
