Hypertension
Hypertension is a medical term used to refer to high blood pressure, a condition in which the pressure of the blood against the artery walls is too high. This can damage the arteries and put stress on the heart, leading to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and other serious health problems. It is a leading cause of death and is preventable with lifestyle changes and/or the use of medications. Hypertension can be monitored and controlled with regular checkups and the use of medications prescribed by a doctor. Making healthy choices such as exercising, eating a balanced diet, and maintaining healthy weight can reduce the risk of developing hypertension.
