Cardiovascular Diabetology

Cardiovascular diabetology is the study of the link between diabetes, the metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases. This field of medicine focuses on understanding the effects of diabetes on the cardiovascular system and on developing strategies for managing and treating diabetes-related heart diseases. Cardiovascular diabetology is important for helping to reduce the burden of diabetes on individuals and society. Its practitioners seek to prevent, identify, and manage the effects of diabetes-related heart disease and to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular diseases. The ultimate goal is to improve the overall health and quality of life of people with diabetes.
