Cardiology is a branch of medicine that specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart, blood vessels, and the circulatory system. Cardiologists can evaluate and diagnose patients with symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, and palpitations. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, medications, and in some cases, surgery. Cardiology is an important medical field as cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent the progression of the disease, and improve quality of life.
