Cardio-oncology
Cardio-oncology is the intersection between cancer care and cardiovascular medicine. It refers to the field of medicine that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular diseases caused by or related to cancer or cancer treatments. Cardio-oncology is a relatively new field of medicine that incorporates both medical and surgical treatment approaches and is critical for the care of cancer patients whose heart health is at risk. Cardio-oncology helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases caused by cancer and its treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation. It also helps to reduce the risk of developing and worsening cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients by providing better monitoring and preventive strategies. Cardio-oncology can also improve the quality of life for cancer survivors.
