Suicidology

Suicidology is a field of science that focuses on the causes, prevention and consequences of suicide. It is an interdisciplinary field, integrating various branches of psychology, sociology, criminology, public health and other disciplines to research, understand and address suicide and its related problems. With the aim to reduce and ultimately eliminate suicide around the world, suicidology promotes evidence-based preventive interventions and provides support for affected individuals and their families. The research and insights gained by suicidologists has contributed to a greater understanding and recognition of suicide as a major public health concern as well as the development of effective prevention strategies and mental health interventions.
