Of Sjogren’s Syndrome Sjögren’s syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by the destruction of glands responsible for the production of saliva and tears, leading to dryness of the eyes and mouth. Symptoms include dry eyes, fatigue, joint pain, and dry mouth. Treatment for Sjögren’s syndrome focuses on relieving symptoms, preventing complications, and slowing the progression of the disease. Prognosis for Sjögren’s syndrome is variable, with some individuals continuing to experience mild symptoms and others developing severe organ damage. Treatment options include lifestyle changes, medications, immunosuppressants, and targeted biologic therapies, which can slow the progression of the disease. Sjögren’s syndrome is an important condition to diagnose and treat as it can significantly impair quality of life and may cause long-term complications including infection and organ damage.
