Scleritis
Scleritis is an inflammation of the sclera (the white outer layer of the eye). It is a painful condition that can lead to severe vision loss if left untreated. Symptoms may include red eyes, pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, and a bulging appearance of the eye. Treatment includes steroid drops to reduce inflammation, antiviral medications to treat infections, and surgery to repair structural damage. Scleritis can be a precursor to serious conditions such as uveitis and optic neuropathy, so early diagnosis and treatment is essential for preserving vision.
