Rheumatoid Factor (Rf)
Rheumatoid Factor (Rf) is a lab test used to detect the presence of Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the joints and causes inflammation. The test is done by taking a blood sample and looking for antibodies that are specific to the disorder. If the antibodies are present, it indicates that the patient has Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rf is an important tool in the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis and is considered the most reliable test to detect the disorder. It is also used to monitor the progress of treatments and to assess the risk of developing complications.
