Neuro-Ophthalmology is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the function of the eye and visual system and those that are associated with the brain and nervous system. Neuro-ophthalmology focuses on the diagnosis and management of disorders of vision, eye movement, and the visual pathways (i.e. the nerves and brain structures responsible for vision). These disorders can include visual disturbances due to stroke, head injury, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, and eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. Neuro-ophthalmology is a field of medicine dedicated to the comprehensive evaluation and management of neuro-visual disorders, and its aim is to improve patient vision and quality of life. It is important to understand that vision is a complex combination of the optical system and the brain and nervous system, and as a result, careful evaluation and diagnosis of these conditions are required.
