Myopia
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a refractive eye condition that causes distant objects to appear blurry while close objects remain in focus. It is usually caused by the elongation of the eyeball, which causes light rays to focus incorrectly on the retina, instead of on the back of the eye as it should. Myopia affects approximately half of the population in some parts of the world and is most common among children and young adults. While there is no cure for myopia, it can be treated with corrective eyeglasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. The long-term effects of myopia can be managed with regular eye exams and the use of appropriate corrective measures.
