Maculopathy

Maculopathy is a disease affecting the macula, which is the central area of the retina in the back of the eye. It reduces the central vision, making it difficult for the affected person to see fine details and colors. Maculopathy is the leading cause of blindness in adults and affects millions of people around the world. Maculopathy can be caused by injury or disease, such as age-related macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy. Treatment is available and can include laser treatments, surgery, and medication. The earlier the diagnosis and treatment, the better the outcome.
