Low-Tension Glaucoma
Low-tension glaucoma is a type of glaucoma, an eye disease that can lead to vision loss, in which the intraocular pressure, or pressure inside the eye, is at a lower than normal level. It is usually caused by an underlying degenerative disease of the optic nerve and is most common among older adults. It can also be caused by certain medications, steroids, and other health conditions. Low-tension glaucoma is an important medical condition to be aware of, as early diagnosis and treatment can help reduce the risk of vision loss. Treatments may involve eye drops, medications, laser surgery, and incisional surgery, depending on the individual patient.
