Iridotomy

Iridotomy is a medical procedure used to reduce or eliminate intraocular pressure in the eye. It involves creating a small hole in the iris, the colored part of the eye. This procedure, which can be done with a laser or a surgical blade, helps to reduce the amount of fluid inside the eye and improve the flow of aqueous humor, which is the fluid that lubricates the eye. Iridotomy is often used to treat glaucoma, and it can also be used to treat or prevent angle-closure glaucoma, which occurs when the drainage angle of the eye becomes blocked. The procedure is minimally invasive and generally safe and effective.
