Glaucoma Prevention
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can lead to the progressive damage of the optic nerve and vision loss. Prevention of glaucoma involves several methods to lower the intraocular pressure of the eye. These methods include the use of medications, laser treatment and surgery. Early detection of glaucoma is important to prevent major vision loss. Regular eye tests, such as vision tests, tonometry and optical coherence tomography, can help detect glaucoma in its early stages and provide an opportunity to stop the disease progression. Preventive measures also include avoiding eye injuries, controlling risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension and optometrist visits. By following these preventive measures and timely treatments, vision can be preserved from glaucoma-related blindness.
