Glaucoma Hereditary

Glaucoma is a hereditary condition that occurs when too much fluid builds up in the eye, causing increased pressure on the optic nerve, which is responsible for carrying vision signals to the brain. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to vision loss and even blindness. Early detection and regular monitoring by an ophthalmologist is essential for proper management of this condition. Treatment typically involves regular eye exams, medications to reduce eye pressure, laser treatments and/or surgery to reduce fluid production. Treatment is aimed at slowing down or preventing further loss of vision and is most effective when started early.
