Glaucoma and Hypertension
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause damage to the optic nerve, leading to progressive vision loss, blindness, and even disability. Hypertension is a medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is consistently elevated. These conditions have a direct correlation, with those with high blood pressure being more likely to suffer from glaucoma, and those with glaucoma being more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. As such, controlling hypertension can be an important preventive measure for glaucoma. Treatments for glaucoma and hypertension can range from lifestyle changes to medications, depending on the individual situation. Maintaining regular eye examinations and monitoring blood pressure levels is essential for the prevention and treatment of glaucoma and hypertension.
