Glaucoma and Age
-related macular degeneration Glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are two of the leading causes of vision loss and irreversible blindness. Glaucoma is an eye disorder where the optic nerve is damaged due to increased pressure in the eye, while AMD is a progressive condition in which the central portion of the retina responsible for detailed vision is damaged. Early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and AMD is important to maintain good vision. The most commonly used treatment for glaucoma is eye drops to lower the pressure in the eye, while for AMD, treatments include use of special vitamins, injections into the eye, and laser or surgery in certain cases. Early diagnosis, management, and lifestyle changes can help maintain good vision and reduce the risk of these eye diseases.
