Exudative Age Related Macular Degeneration
Exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is an eye condition that is a leading cause of vision loss for people over the age of 50. It is characterized by the accumulation of fluid and/or blood in the macula, which is the part of the eye responsible for central, detailed vision. AMD can cause a gradual, progressive loss of sharp central vision, making it difficult to recognize faces, drive, read, or do any kind of detailed work. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical for managing and slowing the progression of the disease to minimize the risk of vision loss. Treatment options include drugs and laser therapy, as well as nutritional supplements, lifestyle changes, and regular, detailed eye exams.
