Cholinergic Agents
Cholinergic agents are a type of drug used to treat a range of medical conditions, such as overactive bladder, glaucoma, and Alzheimer's disease. They work by activating the body's cholinergic network, a network of nerves that use acetylcholine as its neurotransmitter, which helps to control the functions of many cells and organs throughout the body. By activating the cholinergic network, these drugs can help to improve bladder control, reduce intraocular pressure, and improve cognitive functions in patients with Alzheimer's. By improving symptoms associated with these conditions, cholinergic agents significantly improve the quality of life for many individuals.
