Baerveldt Glaucoma Implant

The Baerveldt glaucoma implant is a type of eye implant used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) and prevent the progression of optic nerve damage in people with primary open-angle glaucoma. This implant works by creating a new, permanent pathway for fluid to flow out of the eye, reducing the IOP and preventing further damage to the optic nerve. It is considered to be an effective and safe treatment for glaucoma and has become increasingly popular due to its relatively low rate of complications. The Baerveldt glaucoma implant is an important tool in the fight against glaucoma and can potentially save the sight of those affected by this disease.
