Autorefractor
An autorefractor is a sophisticated piece of equipment used by optometrists and ophthalmologists to accurately measure and assess a patient’s refractive error. It uses a computer, which automatically focuses and refocuses light rays through the eye, to determine the amount of optical power needed to correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. This information is then used by the professional in order to prescribe the appropriate corrective lenses for the patient. Autorefractors are essential tools in providing quality vision care and are invaluable in determining the correct prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
