Anti-Citrullinated Protein Antibodies (Acpas)
Anti-Citrullinated Protein Antibodies (ACPAs) are autoantibodies produced by the immune system of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ACPAs may help to detect the presence of RA in its early stages due to their ability to bind to citrullinated proteins, which are formed in large quantities during the inflammation associated with RA. They are a useful diagnostic tool for clinicians to identify potential RA cases and help determine effective treatment plans for those affected. Additionally, ACPAs can be used to monitor the progress of RA over time, helping to measure the effectiveness of treatments and determine the need for adjustments. As such, ACPAs are a valuable resource in the management of RA.
