Behavioral Physiology
Behavioral physiology is a branch of science which studies the biological interactions between an animal’s behavior and its physiological state. It combines the knowledge of multiple disciplines such as anatomy, physiology, psychology and genetics to understand how an animal’s behavior is affected by its internal environment. Behavioral physiology is significant since it helps us to understand the mechanisms and processes that guide behavior, and how they are affected by the internal and external environment. By investigating how physiology affects behavior, it can be used to develop strategies to improve animal welfare, manage behavior problems and design effective species-specific management plans. Additionally, this branch of science is used to better understand the relationship between health and behavior.
