Weight Stigma
Weight stigma is the term used to describe the negative attitudes, judgments, and behaviors directed towards people perceived to be overweight or obese. It is a form of discrimination that can lead to psychological and physical health issues, including depression, anxiety, and dieting behaviors such as overeating and binge eating. Weight stigma has also been found to be associated with poorer health outcomes, including increased risk of mortality. Weight stigma is an important issue to address as it affects individuals from all walks of life and impacts health and well-being. Finding ways to reduce and eliminate weight stigma is an important public health concern.
