Stress
Stress is a response to a situation or stimulus which places physical, psychological, or emotional demands on an individual - it is the body's way of alerting us to take action or face risk. It is commonly triggered by external circumstances - such as a particularly stressful event - or internal sources - such as depression or anxiety. Stress can be beneficial and motivate us to succeed in our goals, but chronic stress can have serious physical and mental health effects. It can undermine our ability to think clearly, to make decisions and to perform at our best, as well as causing fatigue, digestive problems, headaches, and muscle tension. Strategies such as mindful meditation, physical activity, and good communication can help us to manage our stress levels and mitigate the effects.
