Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of medical conditions including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, increased waist circumference, low HDL, and high triglycerides which increase the risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes. If left untreated, metabolic syndrome can lead to long-term health complications. It is important to make lifestyle modifications such as healthy eating, physical activity, and weight management to reduce the risk of developing metabolic syndrome or to manage an existing condition. Treatment may also include medications to reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels.
