Feeding Disorder
Feeding disorders, or disordered eating, refer to a range of nutrition-related problems that can cause physical, behavioral and psychological difficulties. They can affect people of any age, gender or cultural background, but are most commonly seen among children and adolescents. People with feeding disorders may experience difficulty controlling their eating, leading to unhealthy behavior such as compulsive overeating or severe restriction. Additionally, they may have difficulty eating in social settings or have a distortion of body image. Treatment for feeding disorders typically includes medical management, nutrition counseling and therapy. With the help of these treatments, those affected can learn to manage their eating and develop healthier relationships with food.
